COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) program provides a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for future studies and careers in the health professions by building strong foundations in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, global health, and research. In Year 1, students take core courses in human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, statistics, determinants of health, and the history and philosophy of healthcare, alongside options such as biology, chemistry, calculus, psychology, physics, and writing. Year 2 expands into biochemistry, health research methodology, microbiology, global and population health, and mammalian physiology, supported by optional courses in molecular biology, organic chemistry, nutrition, interprofessional healthcare, and laboratory-based microbiology or physiology. In Year 3, students study genetics, ethics, pathology, therapeutics, and reproduction while choosing from a wide range of advanced options including neuroanatomy, cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience, biochemistry labs, research methodologies, and physiology-focused courses. Year 4 emphasizes advanced global health and developmental origins of disease, with options across specialized areas such as histology, embryology, cardiovascular science, drug development, infectious diseases, immunology, neuroscience, global health emergencies, qualitative research, and applied health ethics. Additional research-intensive Discovery Lab and Health Sciences Research courses provide hands-on learning, and electives allow students to personalize their pathway while completing the required 120.0 units.
