COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education program in Technology Education requires a total of 60.00 units, integrating curriculum studies, professional development, practicum experiences, foundational studies, program focus, and educational studies to prepare students for effective teaching. In curriculum, students complete courses such as Teaching Technology Education Parts 1 and 2 (CURR 360 and 361) and Curriculum Development in Technology Education Parts 1 and 2 (CURR 368 and 369), which emphasize instructional design, lesson planning, and subject-specific pedagogy. Professional studies courses develop personal and professional skills, including Self as Teacher (PROF 110), School and Classroom Leadership (PROF 170), School Law and Policy (PROF 180), Self as Learner (PROF 210), and Self as Professional (PROF 310), alongside specialized courses in Indigenous Studies, environmental education, educational technology, meeting diverse learner needs, English language learners, and transitions and pathways (PROF 502–508). Practicum courses (PRAC 417–467) provide hands-on teaching experience across multiple settings, supporting the development of practical classroom skills. Foundational studies include Psychological Foundations of Education (FOUN 100), Assessment (FOUN 101), and Historical and Philosophical Foundations of Education (FOUN 102), ensuring a broad understanding of educational theory. The program focus in Broad-Based Technology Education (FOCI 212 and 214) and the Educational Studies course on Exceptional Children and Adolescents (EDST 476) round out the curriculum, equipping graduates with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies necessary for a successful career in teaching technology education.
