COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computing, Mathematics, and Analytics Specialization is a 120-unit program that integrates rigorous computer science and advanced mathematics to prepare students for graduate study or careers requiring strong analytical and computational skills. The core computing curriculum begins with foundational courses in discrete structures, introduction to computing, computer architecture, software specifications, data structures, operating systems, programming paradigms, and algorithms, supplemented by specialized courses such as software or game architecture and social, ethical, and legal issues in computing. Mathematics and statistics form a complementary core, including linear algebra, differential and integral calculus, vector and advanced calculus, applied probability, statistics and probability, statistical inference, and applied methods in statistics. Students also explore advanced mathematical topics such as rings and fields, group theory, number theory, functions of a complex variable, stochastic models, game theory, graph theory, combinatorics, coding theory, algebraic geometry, Galois theory, cryptography, optimization, and information theory, developing both theoretical understanding and practical problem-solving skills. In addition to these core components, students complete 12 units from computing-focused options and 30 units of electives or other program requirements, allowing for flexibility and specialization. This combination equips graduates with a powerful interdisciplinary toolkit for research, applied computing, and analytical roles across diverse industries, as well as a strong foundation for advanced degrees in computing or mathematically intensive fields.
