COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPEC) at Queen’s University offers three sub-plans—Economics, Philosophy, and Politics—each requiring 84 units to complete the core curriculum while allowing electives to reach a minimum of 120 units. In the Economics sub-plan, students complete foundational courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, and mathematical economics, alongside PPEC courses such as PPEC 200, 300, and 400, and engage in advanced studies in economics, philosophy, and politics through 200- to 400-level courses. The Philosophy sub-plan emphasizes critical thinking and ethical reasoning, requiring courses in epistemology, metaphysics, history of moral and political philosophy, logic, and advanced PHIL electives, complemented by core PPEC courses and studies in economics and politics. The Politics sub-plan focuses on political theory, research, and statistics, including POLS 111, 112, 250, 284, 285, and 350, as well as PPEC courses 200, 300, and 400, along with advanced POLS, ECON, and PHIL electives. Across all sub-plans, students engage in interdisciplinary study combining rigorous analytical, quantitative, and ethical reasoning skills, preparing them for diverse career paths in government, public policy, business, law, or graduate-level studies. The program’s flexible structure ensures breadth and depth, equipping students with the critical, methodological, and theoretical tools necessary to analyze complex societal issues.
