The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music at Queen’s, pursued alone or in combination with a Major or Minor and sufficient electives to reach 120.00 units, offers a comprehensive education in music theory, history, performance, and technology while providing flexibility to explore interdisciplinary interests. The core curriculum ensures foundational knowledge with courses such as MUSC 104 Music Fundamentals or MUSC 192 Theory and Analysis I, MUSC 103 Music, Meaning, and Society, MUSC 303 Critical Issues in Music, and options in contemporary or historical music studies including MUSC 209 Critical Issues in Contemporary Popular Music, MUSC 210 Western Art Music: Crusades to Colonialism, MUSC 211 Western Art Music: Industrialization to the Internet, MUSC 271 Introduction to Hip Hop, and MUSC 290 Structures of Music Theatre.
