COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health Studies Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the factors shaping individual and population health, combining core coursework in social determinants of health, personal wellness, psychology, health promotion, research methods, statistics, health policy, behaviour change, epidemiology, and program evaluation. Students begin by building foundational knowledge through courses such as HLTH 101 and HLTH 102, followed by PSYC 100 and an anatomy or physiology option. As they advance, they develop essential analytical and methodological skills through HLTH 205, HLTH 252, and a statistics requirement. Upper-year core courses strengthen expertise in health policy, behavioural science, epidemiology, and program planning. The program also offers flexibility through a structured set of options at the 200-, 300-, and 400-levels, allowing students to tailor their degree to areas such as human sexuality, society and health, health behaviour, community health, or other specialized topics depending on the Health Studies options available. With 60.00 units dedicated to electives or complementary requirements, students can personalize their academic path or pursue a minor in another discipline. Overall, the program prepares graduates for diverse careers in public health, health promotion, policy development, community health organizations, research, and further studies in health-related professions.
