COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program in Geography at Queen’s University offers an interdisciplinary approach that combines human and physical geography, quantitative and qualitative methods, and applied skills, preparing students for advanced study or diverse careers. The program, designed to be completed with a Major or Minor in another discipline and sufficient electives to total 120 units, provides a strong foundation in core courses such as Human Geography or Thinking Locally, and Physical Geography and Natural Resources, alongside technical and analytical skills developed through courses like Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Science, Introduction to Statistics, and Introduction to Qualitative Methods in Geography or Social Research Methods. Students deepen their understanding of human-environment interactions through courses exploring cities, urban planning, global political economy, cultural geography, and Canadian geography, while advanced seminars in human geography provide opportunities for independent research and critical analysis. The curriculum allows specialization in physical geography or higher-level courses at the 300-level, while interdisciplinary options such as Race and Racism encourage broader social inquiry.
