COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Classics requires 48 out of the 120 units needed for the degree, structured to provide both foundational knowledge and advanced disciplinary depth. Students complete 12.0 core units, beginning with 6.0 units in CLST 102 and CLST 103, which introduce key themes and methods in the study of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, followed by 6.0 units in CLST 200 and CLST 201, offering intermediate exploration of classical history, culture, and interpretation. Beyond the core, students choose 36.0 option units that allow them to tailor the program to their interests while building progressively advanced expertise. This includes 6.0 units at the 400 level in CLST, ensuring engagement with upper-year research and analysis; 12.0 units from CLST, GREK, LATN, or CLST_Subs courses at the 300 or 400 level to deepen specialization; and 6.0 units from the same subject groups at the 200 level to strengthen linguistic, historical, or thematic understanding. Additionally, students select 12.0 units from CLST, GREK, LATN, or CLST_Subs at the 100 level or above, offering flexibility to explore introductory language study, archaeology, mythology, or cultural history while steadily building toward advanced classical scholarship.
