COURSE CURRICULUM

The Jewish Studies Plan at Queen’s University leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree and requires a total of 90 units, combining core courses, options, and electives to provide a broad and flexible foundation in the field. The core component includes six units of Hebrew language study at any level, allowing students to develop reading, writing, and comprehension skills essential for engaging with primary texts and historical sources. The option courses consist of 24 units, with 12 units at the 200-level or above and another 12 units selected from a broader list of Jewish Studies courses, enabling students to explore topics such as Jewish history, religion, philosophy, literature, and cultural studies in depth. This structure allows students to tailor their studies according to their academic interests and career goals while ensuring a solid grounding in key disciplinary areas. The remaining 60 units are allocated to electives, giving students the flexibility to pursue complementary subjects in the humanities, social sciences, or other fields, further enhancing their analytical, research, and communication skills.
