COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics and Engineering program at Queen’s University, Systems and Robotics Sub-Plan (M11), offers a rigorous four-year curriculum combining advanced mathematics, engineering principles, and robotics systems. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation with courses in engineering design and practice, engineering communications, linear algebra, algebraic structures with applications, differential equations for engineering science, advanced calculus, and introduction to real analysis, totaling 22.5 units. The second year builds on this foundation with a combination of the common core and specialized systems and robotics courses, including electric circuits, digital systems, computer architecture, fundamentals of information structures, mechanics, and engineering electricity and magnetism, totaling 45.75 units, emphasizing both theoretical and practical applications in engineering systems. In the third year, students advance to higher-level mathematics and engineering courses, including functions of a complex variable, real analysis, mathematics of engineering systems, probability, economic and business practice, and the engineering design and practice project for mathematics and engineering, totaling 20.5 units, integrating analytical, computational, and applied problem-solving skills. This program equips graduates with a unique blend of mathematical rigor, engineering expertise, and systems-oriented knowledge, preparing them for careers in robotics, automation, control systems, and advanced technology development, as well as opportunities for research and graduate study in engineering and applied mathematics fields.
