COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Engineering program builds progressively from a general first year into a rigorous, accredited upper-year curriculum designed to meet CEAB requirements while allowing flexibility through elective pathways. Students must complete at least 157.5 credits overall, including a minimum number of engineering science and engineering design units, at least five 400-level electives, and at least three electives that meet departmental accreditation criteria. In second year, the core emphasizes foundational engineering knowledge with courses such as Electric Circuits, Electronics I, Discrete Mathematics, Digital Systems, Computer Architecture, Information Structures, Object-Oriented Programming, Electromagnetics, Data Science, Differential Equations, and a major Design and Practice course, totaling 46.25 units. Third year advances into applied and systems-level study, including Probability and Random Processes, Microprocessor Interfacing, Computer Networks, Digital Systems Engineering, Operating Systems, Algorithms, and Principles of Design, supported by economic and business studies, software methodology, a technical elective, and complementary studies. In fourth year, students complete a substantial capstone project (ELEC 498), supported by 19.10–19.60 units of technical electives and additional complementary studies, allowing them to specialize in areas aligned with their career goals while consolidating engineering design, problem-solving, and professional skills.
