COURSE CURRICULUM

Queen’s Chemical Engineering program offers a comprehensive, four-year curriculum designed to develop skilled engineers capable of designing safe, efficient, and sustainable chemical processes. In the second year, students build a solid foundation in core engineering principles through courses such as Analysis of Process Data, Chemical Processes and Systems, Transport Phenomena Fundamentals, Thermodynamics of Energy Conversion Systems, Fluid Mechanics, Chemical Reaction Engineering, and Applied Organic Chemistry, alongside mathematics, engineering design, and communication courses. Laboratory and project-based courses ensure practical, hands-on experience, reinforcing theoretical knowledge. In the third year, students advance to specialized topics including Fluid Phase and Reaction Equilibrium, Biochemical Engineering, Process Dynamics and Control, Heat and Mass Transfer, and Design of Unit Operations, complemented by technical electives and courses in professional ethics and industrial pollution mitigation. The program emphasizes integrating technical expertise with economic and business principles, preparing students for real-world problem-solving. In the fourth year, students focus on advanced process design, transport phenomena, and strategies for process investigation, while selecting from complementary studies, technical electives, or project-based options such as Chemical Process Design II, Laboratory Projects, interdisciplinary industry projects, or research initiatives.
