COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Arts in Theological Studies program at Providence, students must have a minimum entering GPA of 3.0 and meet specific academic prerequisites depending on their chosen track. For the Biblical Studies track, applicants should have completed one year of language study in both Greek and Hebrew, 6 to 9 credit hours of Theological Studies, 24 credit hours of Biblical Studies, 6 credit hours of Communications, 3 credit hours of Educational Ministries, and 21 credit hours of Humanities and Social Sciences. For the Systematic Theology track, students are required to have completed 6 credit hours of Biblical language study, 9 credit hours of Theological Studies, 18 credit hours of Biblical Studies, 6 credit hours of Communications, 3 credit hours of Educational Ministries, 3 credit hours of Church History, and 21 credit hours of Humanities and Social Sciences. Before admission, all applicants must submit a sample of written work in a research essay format. If any admission requirements are not met, students may take preparatory courses through the University College to qualify. The Biblical Studies track focuses on in-depth Old or New Testament studies aimed at teaching ministry or doctoral research preparation, while the Systematic Theology track offers extensive training in theological thought and practice, preparing students for advanced theological research and doctoral studies.
