COURSE CURRICULUM

Social Science Honours major at Providence University College, students must have completed 45 credit hours of academic coursework, including 18 credit hours in Arts and Sciences. This must include 6 credit hours of introductory courses in the two social sciences chosen as concentrations, along with maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0. The program allows students to concentrate in Anthropology, Psychology, and Sociology, each offering a unique perspective on human life and behavior. Anthropology introduces students to cultures from around the world and throughout history, encouraging them to understand the collective forces that shape human societies while gaining deeper self-awareness. Psychology focuses on the study of individuals, exploring their mental, emotional, and internal processes that drive human behavior and development. Sociology examines how people influence each other through social interactions, norms, and structures that govern communities and institutions. Together, these concentrations provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse factors affecting human experience, from individual psychology to broad social systems. This interdisciplinary foundation prepares students to analyze complex social issues critically and equips them to contribute meaningfully to fields such as counseling, social work, community development, and education, all grounded in a commitment to ethical and informed service.
