COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biblical Studies program at Providence University College offers a rich selection of courses that provide students with a deep and well-rounded understanding of Scripture and its interpretation. In Christian Spirituality I: Formation, students explore the nature of spiritual growth and human identity from a faith perspective. Courses such as The Pentateuch, Hebrew Prophets, and Old Testament Apocalyptic Literature delve into the historical, theological, and literary aspects of the Hebrew Scriptures, while Biblical Poetry I: Psalms focuses on poetic expression, worship, and emotion in biblical texts. Gender in the Hebrew Bible offers a critical examination of gender roles and representation within ancient texts, fostering thoughtful discussion on contemporary implications. Hermeneutics teaches students the principles and methods of biblical interpretation, equipping them to responsibly engage with Scripture in both academic and ministry settings. Language study is also foundational, with Beginning Greek I and Beginning Hebrew I introducing students to the original biblical languages, enabling them to read and interpret texts in their earliest form.
