The Intercultural Studies program at Providence University College offers a dynamic range of courses that provide students with a comprehensive understanding of culture and its impact on human life. Courses such as Cultural Anthropology and Introduction to Sociology lay the foundation for analyzing social structures, belief systems, and cultural practices across different societies. Language and Culture explores how language shapes cultural identity and communication, while Worldview Studies examines the underlying assumptions that guide human thought and behavior. Western Civilization and Post-Colonial Literature provide historical and literary context for understanding the legacies of colonialism and the ongoing dynamics between Western and non-Western cultures. Global Problems and Change addresses current global issues—such as poverty, migration, and environmental challenges—through a cross-cultural lens, encouraging critical thinking and ethical reflection. Anthropology of Music offers insight into how music functions within diverse cultural settings as a form of expression, identity, and community. Intercultural Service Learning gives students practical, hands-on experience in engaging with other cultures through local or international service placements.
