COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Information Technology Security (MITS) program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in cybersecurity. Core courses include Law and Ethics of IT Security, Advanced Communication Networks, Operating Systems Security, Secure Software Systems, Cryptography and Secure Communications, Security Policies and Risk Management, and a seminar course (MITS Seminar) that fosters professional development and academic exchange. Students also take specialized courses such as Attack and Defence and Biometrics/Access Control and Smart Card Technology, gaining hands-on experience through labs and case studies. To complete the program, students choose one of three options: a two-part IT Security Capstone Research Project (I and II), two elective courses, or a 12-week full-time internship (or equivalent 420 hours), which allows them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world environments. Elective options include courses like Complex Networks, Machine Learning, Fundamentals of Cybersecurity I, Usable Security, Information Trust, Global Cybersecurity Threats, Cybersecurity Leadership, CyberCrime, and Special Topics in IT Management. This well-rounded curriculum ensures graduates are prepared to meet the complex demands of the cybersecurity industry and pursue roles such as security analysts, IT consultants, and cybersecurity managers in various sectors including government, healthcare, finance, and technology.
