COURSE CURRICULUM

The Nursing – Collaborative program includes a comprehensive set of courses designed to build a strong foundation in nursing knowledge and practice. Students begin with core subjects such as Microbiology for Health Science, Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II, and Pathophysiology I and II, which provide essential biological and health science knowledge. Courses like Nutrition for Nursing Practice and Health and Indigenous People in Canada broaden students’ understanding of diverse health needs. Professional Communication for Nurses, Professional Ethics in Nursing, and Interprofessional Health Care Teams emphasize the importance of communication, ethics, and teamwork in healthcare. Practical nursing skills are developed through various practicum courses such as Foundations for Nursing Practicum I and II, Health and Healing in different populations including older adults, adults with health challenges, mental health, child and family health, and healthy communities. Students also study Pharmacology for Nurses, Health Assessment, and Nursing Leadership and Innovation to prepare for complex clinical decision-making and leadership roles. Advanced clinical judgment is fostered through simulation and integrated practicum courses. The inclusion of introductory psychology supports understanding of human behaviour and mental health, rounding out a curriculum that integrates theory, practical skills, ethics, and cultural competency, preparing graduates to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in diverse settings.
