COURSE CURRICULUM

The Chemistry program offering a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum that integrates foundational and advanced chemistry topics. In Year 1, students begin with core courses such as Chemistry I and II, Biology I and II, Calculus, and Physics, with course pathways adjusted based on prior math and physics background. The second year deepens the foundation with courses in Structure and Bonding, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Thermodynamics and Kinetics, Molecular Spectroscopy, and Biochemistry I, supported by additional electives. In Year 3, the focus shifts to more specialized areas, including Advanced Organic Chemistry, Instrumental Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Inorganic Chemistry I and II, with multiple elective options to tailor learning to specific interests. Year 4 offers advanced topics such as Quantum Chemistry and Spectroscopy, Physical Chemistry of Surfaces and Colloids, and the opportunity to complete a two-part Chemistry Thesis Project under faculty supervision or choose from senior chemistry electives. Throughout the program, students gain extensive hands-on lab experience and develop analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills essential for careers in research, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, materials chemistry, or for further studies in graduate or professional schools such as medicine, education, or engineering.
