COURSE CURRICULUM

The Kinesiology program requires students to complete a comprehensive set of courses designed to build a strong foundation in human movement, health, and performance. Core courses include Foundations in Kinesiology, Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II, and Quantitative Reasoning, which provide essential knowledge of the body and critical thinking skills. Students explore Human Growth and Motor Development, Sociocultural Perspectives, and Health and Indigenous People in Canada to understand diverse factors influencing physical activity and health. The program covers specialized subjects such as Exercise Biochemistry, Biomechanics, Movement Neuroscience, and Psychology of Sport and Exercise to deepen understanding of the physiological, mechanical, and psychological aspects of movement. Injury Management, Motor Control and Learning, Ethical Behaviour, and Exercise Physiology further prepare students for practical applications in health and rehabilitation settings. Research Methods and Introduction to Statistics equip students with analytical skills needed for evidence-based practice. Advanced courses like Fitness Assessment and Exercise Prescription, Nutrition and Health, and the Kinesiology Capstone integrate learning through hands-on experience and project work, fostering critical professional skills. This curriculum ensures graduates are well-prepared for careers in health care, sport, rehabilitation, and education, as well as for professional certification as Registered Kinesiologists.
