COURSE CURRICULUM

The Railway Engineering specialization is offered through four distinct engineering streams—Automotive, Mechatronics, Mechanical, and Manufacturing—each combining a strong foundation in core engineering principles with advanced knowledge of railway systems. Across all specializations, students begin with foundational courses in calculus, linear algebra, physics, chemistry, programming, and engineering design. As they progress, they explore discipline-specific subjects such as solid mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, control systems, manufacturing processes, and computational engineering. Specialized railway engineering content is integrated through courses like Introduction to Railway Systems, Railway Safety and Signalling, Railway Rolling Stock, and Railway Systems Operation and Maintenance. Automotive students focus on vehicle dynamics, hybrid technologies, and component design, while Mechatronics students emphasize electronics, sensors, microprocessors, and embedded systems. Mechanical students delve deeper into stress analysis, mechanical vibrations, thermodynamic applications, and mechatronics, whereas Manufacturing students gain expertise in integrated manufacturing systems, additive manufacturing, quality control, and industrial automation. All streams include courses in engineering economics, ethics and professionalism, and culminate in a two-part Capstone Systems Design project. This interdisciplinary approach ensures graduates are equipped with the technical, practical, and design skills needed to innovate in the railway and broader transportation industry, preparing them for careers in infrastructure development, rolling stock management, safety systems, and transportation engineering worldwide.
