COURSE CURRICULUM

The Criminology and Justice program offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary study of crime, law, and social justice through a diverse range of courses. Students explore foundational topics such as Introduction to Criminology and Justice, Criminal Law, and Social Control, while critically examining issues like race, gender, and Indigenous justice through courses like Critical Race Theory, Gender, Sex, and (In)Justice, and Indigenous Peoples and Justice. The curriculum integrates sociological, psychological, political, and legal perspectives with courses in Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, and Legal Studies, covering areas such as Social Problems, Developmental Psychology, International Law, and Global Politics. Advanced coursework includes Restorative Justice, Policing Diverse Communities, Cybercrime, Corporate Crime, and Emerging Patterns of Policing, preparing students to understand contemporary challenges in law enforcement and the justice system. Hands-on learning is supported through practicums, independent studies, and thesis projects, allowing students to engage in research and applied work. Specialized topics such as Family Violence, Youth Justice Policy, Terrorism, and Environmental Justice highlight the program’s breadth and commitment to addressing complex social issues.
