COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law, Technology and Society program offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers foundational and advanced topics relevant to contemporary legal challenges. Core courses such as Foundations of Legal Studies, Public Law, Private Law, Legal Theory, and Legal Research Methods provide a strong base in legal principles, while specialized courses like Law and Technology, Intellectual Property, Information and Privacy Law, and Cybercrime address the impact of rapid technological advancements on the legal landscape. Students also explore critical social justice issues through courses on Canadian Human Rights Law, Disability and the Law, Indigenous Peoples, Law and the State, Race, Ethnicity and the Law, and Gender, Sexuality and the Law. The program includes practical learning opportunities such as a practicum and integrating projects, enhancing research, mediation, and conflict resolution skills through courses in Family Mediation, Human Rights Mediation, Employment and Mediation, and Mediation and Conflict Resolution. Broader social science perspectives are gained through related courses in Criminology, Political Science, Sociology of Law, Philosophy of Law, and Media and Communication studies. The curriculum prepares students for careers in legal research, policy analysis, advocacy, mediation, and law enforcement, while also offering a pathway to graduate studies, law school, or specialized certifications.
