COURSE CURRICULUM

The Forensic Psychology program offers a comprehensive curriculum that integrates foundational psychology, legal studies, criminology, and forensic science to provide students with a deep understanding of the psychological principles applied within the justice system. Beginning with essential courses such as Introductory Psychology, Criminology and Justice, Legal Studies, and Communication, students build a strong interdisciplinary base. Core psychology courses cover developmental, social, cognitive, personality, and abnormal psychology, along with research methods and data analysis, preparing students for advanced inquiry. Specialized forensic psychology courses delve into critical topics like confessions and interrogations, eyewitness psychology, investigative psychology, forensic assessment, treatment in forensic settings, and wrongful convictions. Students engage in hands-on learning through directed laboratory research, practicum experiences, and honours thesis projects, fostering practical skills in applying psychological science to real-world justice issues. The program also explores advanced topics such as psychopathic behaviour, sexual offenders, antisociality, and the psychology of children in legal contexts.
