COURSE CURRICULUM

The Criminology and Justice program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to explore the multifaceted nature of crime, justice, and social control through an interdisciplinary lens. Core courses such as Introduction to Criminology and Justice, Social Problems, Foundations of Legal Studies, and Research Methods provide foundational knowledge in criminology, sociology, law, and psychology. Students delve into classical and contemporary crime theories, restorative justice, and social justice, while specialized courses examine critical issues like decolonizing criminology, critical race theory, gender and justice, and policing diverse communities. The program also addresses important topics such as organized crime, corporate crime, cybercrime, family violence, youth justice, and emerging patterns in policing. Opportunities for hands-on learning through practicums, independent studies, and honours theses enable students to apply theory to real-world justice issues. Complementary courses in political science, international law, global politics, environmental justice, and human rights broaden the understanding of justice in global and interdisciplinary contexts.
