COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electronic Engineering Technology Diploma at Okanagan College is a two-year program that combines theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience to prepare students for careers in electronics, communications, embedded systems, and automation. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in computer fluency, programming and interfacing, electrical circuit analysis, digital electronics, electronic devices and circuits, physics, mathematics, and technical writing. They also gain fabrication experience and an introduction to the Internet of Things, establishing essential skills for designing, building, and analyzing electronic systems. In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced topics, including microcontroller technology, control systems and automation, embedded systems, analog and digital communication systems, and applications of the industrial Internet of Things. Students also complete engineering project management, applied electronics projects, and technical reporting, integrating practical problem-solving with professional communication. Co-op employment seminars and co-op work terms provide real-world experience, allowing students to apply their knowledge in industry settings and develop professional skills that are highly valued by employers. The program emphasizes both technical competence and project-based learning, ensuring graduates are well-equipped to work with modern electronic technologies, networked systems, and industrial automation. Upon completion, students are prepared for a variety of roles in electronics, communications, and engineering support industries, bridging to further education or professional certification.
