COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Administration Diploma with a specialization in Tourism and Hospitality Management is designed to give students a strong foundation in general business while also developing focused skills for the tourism and hospitality industry. In the first year, students build core knowledge in business principles along with an introduction to the business of tourism, which helps them understand how the industry operates. The second year emphasizes experiential learning, particularly in the Okanagan wine, culinary tourism, and hospitality sectors, allowing students to gain practical exposure and industry-relevant experience. To complete this specialization, students must select one introductory tourism course from BUAD 115 Introduction to Tourism, TOUR 105 Introduction to Tourism, or BUAD 206 The Business of Tourism. In addition, they are required to complete BUAD 215 Restaurant Management, BUAD 230 Wine and Culinary Tourism, and BUAD 220 Hotel Management, which provide essential knowledge of food service, hotel operations, and tourism experiences. Students may also choose additional electives such as BUAD 176 Professional Sales, BUAD 266 Advertising and Marketing Communications, BUAD 269 Human Resources Management, BUAD 293 Entrepreneurship, BUAD 299 Conventions Management, or BUAD 227 Selected Topics: Tourism and Hospitality. This specialization prepares graduates for supervisory roles in tourism, hospitality, and related service industries by combining business knowledge with practical industry training.
