COURSE CURRICULUM

Associate of Science Degree with a Mathematics and Statistics Emphasis, students must complete a combination of mathematics, statistics, computer science, and data analytics courses that build strong analytical, computational, and problem-solving skills. The required courses include COSC 111 Computer Programming I, which introduces programming fundamentals, and DSCI 228 Introduction to Applied Data Analytics, which develops practical data analysis abilities. Students must also complete MATH 122 Calculus II, MATH 201 Mathematical Structures and Proofs, MATH 212 Calculus III, and MATH 221 Linear Algebra I to strengthen mathematical reasoning, advanced calculus knowledge, and abstract thinking. In statistics, students complete STAT 203 Introduction to Probability and STAT 205 Introduction to Mathematical Statistics, or alternatively STAT 230, depending on transfer goals and university requirements. In addition, students must complete at least one advanced course such as discrete structures, differential equations, numerical methods, linear algebra II, calculus IV, regression analysis, or modern statistical methods. This curriculum provides a strong academic foundation for further studies in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, economics, engineering, or related quantitative disciplines. Students also develop skills in logical reasoning, research, statistical modeling, programming, and data interpretation, preparing them for both academic advancement and professional opportunities in analytical and technology-driven fields.
