ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Northern Lights College (NLC), founded in 1975, is a public post-secondary institution located in Northern British Columbia, Canada. It operates campuses and access centres across eight communities in the northern third of the province, with its Regional Administration based at the Dawson Creek campus. NLC provides a wide range of programs, including trades and apprenticeships, university transfer courses, business, health care, and resource-focused programs that align with regional industry needs. The college is known for its commitment to Indigenous education and community partnerships. As of 2021, international students made up 25% of NLC's student body, while 20% of students identified as Indigenous. Under the leadership of long-serving president Jim Kassen, who served from 1980 to 2005, the college expanded significantly beyond its original Dawson Creek campus. NLC continues to offer high-quality, accessible education tailored to the evolving needs of northern British Columbia.
