COURSE CURRICULUM

Information Technology is structured over four semesters and designed to integrate business management fundamentals with advanced IT training for students who already hold a three-year degree in IT or a related field. In Semester One, students build foundational knowledge with courses in economics (ECON 105), workplace communications (ENGL 110), management principles (MGMT 104), financial accounting (MGMT 120), and business mathematics (MGMT 150). Semester Two continues with academic writing (ENGL 100), human resource management (MGMT 204), business systems analysis (MGMT 217), managerial accounting (MGMT 221), and organizational behavior (PSYC 224). These courses lay the groundwork for understanding business operations and management practices in professional environments. In Semester Three, the focus shifts to applying these principles in an IT context through courses such as organizational communications (COMM 301), server management (ITEC 240), and network infrastructure (ITEC 250). Strategic management (MGMT 225), corporate finance (MGMT 260), and an integrated strategic management seminar (MGMT 425) are also included to strengthen leadership and planning competencies. Semester Four completes the program with advanced IT topics like virtual software systems (ITEC 320), legal and ethical frameworks in business (MGMT 228), corporate finance continuation (MGMT 261), and supervisory management skills (MGMT 301). The program culminates with project management (MGMT 450) and a project management seminar with an IT specialization (MGMT 453), ensuring that students graduate with the practical, analytical, and strategic skills needed to manage IT projects and teams effectively. This curriculum prepares graduates to pursue roles in IT management, systems analysis, network administration, and project coordination across diverse industries, both in Canada and internationally.
