COURSE CURRICULUM

The Millwright Foundation Program includes two key components: MILL101 Millwright Foundation, which consists of 720 contact hours, and MILL161 Practicum, a 90-hour unpaid work placement. MILL101 introduces students to the essential skills and knowledge needed for the millwright trade, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery commonly used in the mining, forestry, and energy sectors. Safety and proper tool usage are emphasized throughout the course, preparing students for the demanding work environment. Upon successful completion, students advance to Level 2 technical training. The practicum (MILL161) provides hands-on experience in real work settings, where students apply theoretical concepts learned during the course. Supervised and evaluated by both Northern Lights College staff and the employer, the practicum ensures students gain valuable industry exposure. Prior to placement, students may need to complete certain safety certifications at their own cost, as required by the practicum host or instructor. This comprehensive program equips students with a solid foundation in millwright skills and practical experience essential for a successful career in industrial machinery maintenance and repair.
