COURSE CURRICULUM

Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for a wide range of roles in the cybersecurity field. In the first semester, students gain foundational knowledge in Windows Server, Linux Server, networking, information security, and scripting with Python, preparing them for certifications like CompTIA Security+, Linux+, and Network+. The second semester delves into specialized topics such as cloud security, cybersecurity risk management, ethical hacking, digital forensics, and intrusion detection and prevention, emphasizing practical skills and mitigation strategies within a Canadian context. The third semester focuses on work experience preparation, cybersecurity law and ethics, vulnerability management, network forensics and incident response, network security fundamentals, and security operations centre (SOC) fundamentals. This semester combines technical knowledge with essential soft skills like resume writing, interviewing, and professional etiquette, preparing students for the workforce. The program culminates in a fourth-semester work term or capstone project, allowing students to apply their learning to real-world cybersecurity challenges in a Canadian industry setting. Throughout the program, students develop expertise in managing security risks, incident response, vulnerability assessments, and legal and ethical issues related to cybersecurity. The hands-on approach, combined with opportunities to prepare for key industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, PenTest+, (ISC)² SSCP, and EC-Council’s Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), ensures graduates are well-equipped to meet the demands of the evolving cybersecurity landscape and pursue careers in various sectors requiring strong information security skills.
