COURSE CURRICULUM

Mechanical Engineering Technology program is a comprehensive six-semester advanced diploma designed to prepare students for careers in mechanical design, manufacturing, and industrial systems. In Semester 1, students build foundational skills through courses in professional communication, health and safety, introductory physics, mathematics, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and basic millwright machining. Semester 2 advances their knowledge with statics, workplace communication, Indigenous culture and awareness, CAD I, electrical and electronics fundamentals, and Millwright Machining II. Semester 3 introduces embedded programming, calculus-based mathematics, fluid mechanics, mechanical design with CAD II, strength of materials, and a general education elective. By Semester 4, students tackle advanced topics such as energy systems, manufacturing processes, dynamics, HVAC systems, and mechanical design with CAD III, alongside statistics and another general elective. Semester 5 focuses on more specialized engineering knowledge, including calculus II, engineering operations and management, mechanical lab work, advanced fluid mechanics, a research project, and advanced dynamics. In Semester 6, students synthesize their learning in applied thermodynamics and heat transfer, metrology and quality control, machine design, and advanced strength of materials and machine dynamics. They also complete a second mechanical lab and their final research project. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, technical precision, and applied problem-solving using industry-standard tools and practices, preparing graduates to design, analyze, and implement complex mechanical systems.
