ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology, commonly known as Northern College, is a public college in Northern Ontario, Canada. Established in 1967 as part of Ontario’s college system, it serves over 65 communities across a vast catchment area of approximately 150,200 square kilometres. The college has four main campuses located in Timmins, Kirkland Lake, Moosonee, and Temiskaming Shores (Haileybury), and is home to the historic Haileybury School of Mines, founded in 1912. Northern College offers a range of diploma, certificate, and continuing education programs, enrolling about 1,500 full-time students annually, with over 11,000 part-time and continuing education learners. The college is also partnered with Pures College of Technology in Midland and Scarborough to expand its educational offerings. In recent years, the college has experienced significant growth in international enrollment, with a large number of students coming from countries such as India. In 2024, the Government of Ontario provided $2.1 million to Northern College for new equipment to support program delivery.
