COURSE CURRICULUM

The Petroleum Engineering Technology program includes a comprehensive course lineup designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills for the oil and gas industry. In Term 1, students study Petroleum Geology, Technical Mathematics and Software Applications, Petroleum Operations and Equipment, Safety Studies, Fluid Mechanics, and Physics, laying a strong foundation in both theory and practical applications. Term 2 focuses on General, Physical and Organic Chemistry, Technical Communications, advanced mathematics including calculus and statistics, Formation Evaluation, Drilling and Well Planning, and Computer Applications for the Oil and Gas Industry I, blending technical expertise with communication skills. Term 3 advances into Materials Selection for the Petroleum Industry, Natural Gas Plant and Field Processes, Reservoir Engineering, Completions and Well Interventions, Applied Research Foundations, and Computer Applications for the Oil and Gas Industry II, emphasizing applied knowledge and industry tools. In the final term, students engage with Natural Gas Operations, Production Optimization, an Applied Research Project, Energy Industry Operating Practices, Heavy Oil and Thermal Operations, and Project Development and Evaluation. This structured curriculum ensures graduates are well-prepared for diverse roles in petroleum engineering, combining hands-on experience with industry-relevant knowledge to address both current and future challenges in the energy sector.
