COURSE CURRICULUM

The Occupational Health & Safety diploma program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for key roles in workplace safety. In Term 1, courses focus on foundational knowledge including technology and communications, legislation, toxic exposures, principles of OHS management systems, and hazard control. Term 2 builds on this foundation with applied chemistry, professional practices and ethics, principles of occupational hygiene, influencing organizational culture, training and development, and statistics and data analysis. Term 3 includes a valuable co-operative work experience, allowing students to gain practical, hands-on industry exposure. Term 4 deepens expertise with courses on the development of OHS management systems, occupational hygiene monitoring techniques, incident investigation, risk and emergency management, and applied physics. Finally, Term 5 covers advanced topics such as ergonomics and occupational health and wellness, OHS systems evaluation and monitoring, leading change, contractor and construction safety management, human behavior in OHS, and managing health and wellness. Throughout the program, students develop the skills necessary to identify hazards, implement safety measures, manage risks, and promote a culture of health and safety in diverse workplaces. This structured progression ensures graduates are well-equipped to meet the demands of health and safety roles in various industries.
