COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Engineering Technology program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop the skills necessary for a successful career as a mechanical engineering technologist. In Term 1, students build a foundation with courses in effective communications, machine shop practices, engineering materials, calculus, engineering mechanics focused on statics, and engineering graphics and technical drawings. Term 2 introduces solid modeling, design and projects, industrial hydraulics and pneumatics, dynamics of machinery, strength of materials, and fluid mechanics, emphasizing both theoretical knowledge and practical applications. Term 3 advances learning through courses on tool and fixture design, modern manufacturing processes, design of machine elements, productivity improvement, production capacity planning, and thermodynamics and heat transfer. The final term, Term 4, focuses on quality assurance, cost estimating, machine design, facilities engineering and management, a technical project capstone to integrate learning, and an introduction to basic electricity and robotics. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience and develop problem-solving skills applicable to various industries such as oil and gas, agriculture, and manufacturing. This program prepares graduates to effectively analyze, design, and optimize mechanical systems while adapting to industry advancements and challenges.
