COURSE CURRICULUM

The Industrial Heavy Equipment Technology program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the skills needed to maintain and repair heavy machinery. In Term 1, courses include Effective Communications I, Frames and Suspensions, Electrical and Electronics, Air Brakes, Safety and Professionalism, and Hydraulic Fundamentals and Hydraulic Brakes, establishing a strong foundation in mechanical systems and workplace safety. Term 2 covers Petroleum Chemistry, AC Electricity I, Engine Fundamentals, Engine Systems, Starting and Charging, and Fuel Injection, focusing on essential engine and electrical components. Term 3 advances to AC Electricity II, Effective Communications II, Hydraulics II, Off-Road Steering, Suspension and Tracks, and Off-Road Power Train, emphasizing hydraulic systems and off-road machinery. The final term, Term 4, includes On-Road Power Train, On-Road Transmissions, Steering and ABS, Leadership and Management, Air Conditioning and Electrical, and Properties of Materials, preparing students for advanced mechanical systems and leadership roles. Together, these courses provide a balanced mix of technical knowledge, hands-on skills, and professional development, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to work competently in industries such as mining, logging, agriculture, and construction.
