The Chemical Technology diploma program at NAIT offers a robust curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with extensive laboratory experience across four terms. In Term 1, students build a strong foundation in laboratory safety and techniques (CHEM1121), chemical principles (CHEM1131), general chemistry (CHEM1132), introductory organic chemistry (CHEM1151), and technical mathematics, statistics, and computer applications (MATH1148). Term 2 deepens knowledge through courses in quantitative analysis (CHEM1232), intermediate organic chemistry (CHEM1252), physical chemistry (CHEM1280), effective communications (ENGL1219), and physics fundamentals (PHYS1212). In Term 3, students are introduced to advanced topics, including quality assurance and safety (CHEM2322), industrial chemistry (CHEM2333), oil and gas chemistry (CHEM2341), chromatography (CHEM2361), and molecular spectroscopy (CHEM2362). The final term focuses on specialized areas such as applied biochemistry and food analysis (CHEM2456), atomic spectroscopy and electroanalytical chemistry (CHEM2463), advanced applications of instrumental analysis (CHEM2464), and environmental chemistry (CHEM2471), alongside project management (PMGT2400) to prepare for professional roles.
