COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Engineering Technology program includes a comprehensive curriculum designed to build both foundational knowledge and specialized skills across five terms. In Term 1, students study Digital Fundamentals, Passive Circuits, Electronic Measurements, Soldering and Hand Tool Skills, Technical Mathematics and Calculus, and Programming Fundamentals to develop a solid base in electronics and programming. Term 2 advances into Electronic Devices and Active Circuits, Effective Communications, Calculus and Statistics, Microcontroller Systems, and PC Hardware and Software, enhancing both technical and communication abilities. Term 3 introduces Anatomy and Physiology, X-Ray Systems, Circuit Applications, Medical Laboratory Instrumentation, Networking and PACS, and Technical Project Management, bridging electronics with medical applications. In Term 4, students focus on Biomedical Management, Diagnostic Imaging Systems, Renal Dialysis, Biomedical Instrumentation, a Technical Project, and Radiographic Image Acquisition and Management, gaining deeper expertise in healthcare technologies and project execution. The program concludes with Term 5, where students complete a Practicum Work Experience, applying their skills in real-world settings. This blend of theory, technical skills, and hands-on experience prepares graduates to excel as biomedical engineering technologists in various healthcare environments.
