COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance specialization within NAIT’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) offers a comprehensive and industry-relevant curriculum that prepares students for success in the financial sector. In Level 1, students build foundational skills with courses such as Introductory Financial Accounting, Business Productivity Software, Communications, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Introduction to Financial Planning, Marketing, Business Math, and Organizational Behaviour, plus one 1000-level business elective. Level 2 introduces core finance topics, including Managerial Accounting, Business Law, Business Analytics, Principles of Credit, Investments, Calculus for Business, and Business Statistics. In Level 3, students deepen their analytical and communication skills through courses like Critical Reading and Writing, Applied Business Ethics, Stock Market Simulation, Corporate Finance, Securities Valuation, Financial Advising, and Econometrics. Level 4 advances students into high-level financial concepts with courses such as Financial Applications of Machine Learning, Advanced Corporate Finance, International Finance, Advanced Portfolio Theory, Securities Trading, Derivatives and Risk Management, Advanced Investment Analysis, Behavioural Finance, and Financial Risk Management. A wide range of recommended electives—such as Financial Modeling, Retirement Planning, Fixed Income, Alternative Investments, and Entrepreneurial Finance—allow for further specialization. Capstone projects and research courses offer applied learning opportunities, while auxiliary electives provide broader perspectives on workplace wellness, sustainability, and diversity.
