COURSE CURRICULUM

Marketing Option of North Island College’s Business Administration Diploma is designed to prepare students for careers in marketing, sales, and business development by providing a blend of core business knowledge and specialized marketing skills. Core courses include Management Accounting (BUS 217), Commercial Law (BUS 221), Entrepreneurship (BUS 253), Consumer Behaviour (BUS 260), Digital Marketing (BUS 261), Professional Selling (BUS 264), Services Marketing (BUS 267), and Principles of Macroeconomics (ECO 111), equipping students with expertise in financial management, legal frameworks, marketing strategy, and consumer engagement. In addition, students select one elective from a diverse range of courses focused on Indigenous studies, governance, social sciences, and cultural perspectives, such as Histories and Impacts of Colonization (ABG 100), Governance and Organizational Structures (ABG 102), Vision, Values, Philosophies and Ethics (ABG 103), Politics, Policy and Practice (ABG 105), Community Development & Planning (ABG 110), Economic Development (ABG 111), Ethnology of North America (ANT 250), Indigenous Literatures in Canada (ENG 127), First Nations Education: Traditional and Contemporary (FNS 160), Fishing, Indigeneity and the Asia Pacific I & II (GLS 140/240), Field School: Fishing, Indigeneity and the Asia Pacific (GLS 241), Domination and Resistance: A History of Imperialism and Colonialism (HIS 246), and First Nations Sociology (SOC 130). This combination ensures graduates are well-prepared to apply marketing strategies ethically and effectively in diverse organizational and cultural contexts.
