COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Kinesiology program at Nipissing University requires students to successfully complete 30 credits, combining foundational coursework, specialized study, and an in-depth research thesis. Core requirements include KINE 5006 Research Methods in Kinesiology (3 cr), KINE 5007 Statistics in Kinesiology (3 cr), and KINE 5206 Integrative Seminar in Kinesiology (3 cr), which equip students with essential research design, data analysis, and interdisciplinary perspectives in the field. A major component of the program is the KINE 5453 Research Thesis (18 cr), where students engage in original research under faculty supervision, culminating in a formal thesis. In addition, students must choose one elective (3 cr) from a diverse list of advanced topics tailored to specific interests and career goals. Elective options include Sensory-Movement Behaviour, Biomechanics and Ergonomics, Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology, Health Promotion, Behavioural Medicine, Advanced Cardiovascular and Environmental Exercise Physiology, Independent Research Project in Selected Topics, Directed Readings in Kinesiology, Special Topics in Kinesiology, or Sport Management. This structure ensures that graduates gain both breadth and depth in kinesiology, preparing them for doctoral studies or careers in academia, health sciences, sport, fitness, and related professional fields.
