COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) on-campus program at Nipissing University is a four-year full-time degree requiring completion of 120 credits, designed to prepare students for professional nursing practice. Admission is competitive and limited, with specific requirements for both the four-year program and the RPN to BScN bridging pathway. Students must maintain a minimum grade of 60% in all nursing theory courses and 50% in non-nursing courses to progress, with a required overall program average of 60%. More than one unsatisfactory clinical grade results in withdrawal from the program, which must be completed within seven years of initial admission. The curriculum includes a comprehensive mix of nursing theory, health sciences, and practical nursing experience, with courses spanning professional nursing, health assessment, patho-pharmacology, microbiology, health psychology, population health, and Indigenous health and wellness. Clinical practice placements are integrated throughout all four years, providing real-world experience in diverse healthcare settings. The program emphasizes holistic care, leadership, research methods, and community health, equipping graduates with the skills necessary for dynamic nursing careers. Electives and interdisciplinary courses complement core nursing content, fostering critical thinking and professional development essential for today’s healthcare environment.
