COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Specialization in Psychology at Nipissing University is a four-year program designed for students interested in the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes with a strong emphasis on quantitative and empirical methods. To graduate, students must complete 120 credits, including 54 credits in Psychology with a minimum average of 60% and at least 60% in key courses: PSYC 1106 and 1107 (Introduction to Psychology I & II), PSYC 2126 and 2127 (Scientific Method and Analysis I & II), and PSYC 3356 (Design and Analysis I). An additional 39 credits must be completed at the 2000, 3000, or 4000 level in Psychology. Students are also required to complete 6 credits in Science and 12 additional credits from selected first-year courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics (excluding BIOL 1911, CHEM 1911, PHYS 1912), making this program ideal for those interested in neuroscience, health sciences, or graduate studies in experimental psychology. The degree also includes ACAD 1601 (Academic Writing), 3 credits in Humanities, and 42 elective credits, providing opportunities to explore interdisciplinary interests. This BSc stream prepares students for research-intensive careers and advanced studies in fields such as clinical psychology, cognitive science, and biomedical research.
