COURSE CURRICULUM

The Specialization in Environmental Biology and Technology at Nipissing University is a comprehensive Bachelor of Science (four-year) program that combines academic study with practical training in collaboration with Canadore College. Students must complete 120 credits, including 60 credits in the specialization. Key courses include BIOL 1006, BIOL 1007, ENSC 1006, and ENSC 1007, all requiring a minimum grade of 60%. A distinctive feature of the program is the Year 2 Canadore Block, which consists of 30 credits delivered through the Environmental Protection and Compliance Technician Diploma Program. To proceed into the Canadore year, students must maintain an overall average of at least 60%, and a GPA of 2.0 at Canadore is required to earn the credits. In addition to foundational courses, students complete higher-level biology courses such as Biostatistics, Principles of Ecology, and upper-year electives in BIOL at the 3000 and 4000 levels. Supporting science courses include CHEM 1006 and 1007, GEOG 1017, and a 1000-level MATH course. Breadth requirements include ACAD 1601 and six credits in Humanities, Social Science, or Professional Studies. With a blend of theoretical learning and applied skills, the program prepares graduates for diverse careers in environmental science and related sectors.
