COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science (Liberal) program at Nipissing University requires students to complete 90 credits, including two science minors of 18 credits each, with a minimum grade of 60% in both. Students must choose minors from specific science disciplines and complete six credits each in two of the following core areas: Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Additionally, students must accumulate 54 credits in science courses across at least three different disciplines to ensure a broad scientific foundation. The program also includes two philosophy courses, PHIL 2506 Thinking Clearly and PHIL 2507 Bullshit, Bias, and Propaganda: Reasoning about the Irrational, totaling six credits, designed to enhance critical thinking and reasoning skills. Science electives make up 18 credits, allowing students some flexibility to explore additional scientific interests. Besides the science requirements, students must fulfill breadth requirements, including ACAD 1601 (3 credits) and 9 credits in Humanities, Social Science, and/or Professional Studies, supporting a well-rounded liberal education. The program’s structure encourages interdisciplinary study and critical thinking, preparing students with a broad understanding of science and its societal implications while developing essential analytical and communication skills necessary for diverse career paths or further scientific study.
