COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at Nipissing University with a Human Resource Management (HRM) Concentration equips students with both core business knowledge and specialized expertise in managing people and workplace environments. In addition to the standard BBA requirements—which include courses in accounting, economics, marketing, organizational behaviour, operations, ethics, law, finance, statistics, and strategy—students pursuing the HRM Concentration complete 18 additional credits. These include mandatory courses such as ORGS 1137 Management of Human Resources, ORGS 2006 Recruitment and Selection, and ORGS 2117 Industrial Relations. Students also choose nine credits from a wide range of HR-focused electives, including ORGS 3146 Compensation and Rewards, ORGS 3147 Occupational Health and Safety, ORGS 3246 Human Resources Research and Information Systems, ORGS 3247 Human Resources Planning, ORGS 3836 Training and Development, and others exploring topics like diversity, organizational change, sustainability, and intercultural management. This combination provides students with a deep understanding of the policies, systems, and practices that support effective workforce management and organizational performance. The program also includes 6 credits in humanities, science, or social science, 6 additional business electives, and 45 general electives, allowing for broad academic development. Graduates are well-prepared for HR roles in a variety of industries or for further certification such as the CHRP designation.
