ABOUT UNIVERSITY
New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is a public institution with multiple campuses and regional sites across New Brunswick, Canada, including Moncton, Miramichi, Fredericton, Saint John, St. Andrews, and Woodstock, with Fredericton serving as its head office. The college offers more than 90 programs across 18 sectors, including regular academic programs, training in apprenticeable trades, corporate training, and part-time courses for individuals. Notably, NBCC was among the first colleges in North America to offer a program in video game design. On May 29, 2010, the college transitioned to a self-governance model under the New Brunswick Community Colleges Act, establishing it as an autonomous Crown Corporation with the President and CEO reporting to an elected Board of Governors. NBCC is also an active member of national and international organizations such as Colleges and Institutes Canada, through which it has signed the Indigenous Education Protocol. The college has been involved in numerous international projects and research initiatives. Between 2004 and 2007, it participated in the Pan-Canadian Student Mobility Program, facilitating exchanges between students from New Brunswick and British Columbia. NBCC played a founding role in the Atlantic Colleges Tourism Education Consortia, promoting cross-institutional learning and professional development for tourism students and faculty in the Atlantic provinces. It is also a founding member of the Cross-border Higher Education Program, supporting college students in pursuing further academic pathways in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs in collaboration with institutions such as St. Stephen's University in New Brunswick and the University of Maine. The college has received recognition for its international partnerships, including the Canadian International Development Agency Award of Excellence in 1999 for work in Jordan and again in 2002 for its partnership with Universidad de Cienfuegos in Cuba, which focused on developing and implementing an Extension Services Centre. Through its diverse programs, partnerships, and research initiatives, NBCC has established itself as a prominent institution contributing to education locally, nationally, and internationally.
