COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Education (Educational Foundations) program at Mount Saint Vincent University is designed to provide educators with a deep and critical understanding of the underlying principles, philosophies, and sociocultural influences that shape education. This program requires the successful completion of 5.0 units of coursework, including 2.0 units of GFDD courses and 0.5 units of GEDU 6170, which together establish a strong foundation in educational theory and practice. In addition, students are required to complete 2.0 units of elective courses selected from various graduate Education programs such as GCRD, GEMS, GFDD, GLIT, or GSLL, allowing them to tailor their learning to their professional interests and career goals. A further 0.5 unit of graduate-level coursework from any program provides flexibility to explore interdisciplinary perspectives and broaden academic horizons. The program is ideal for teachers, administrators, and education professionals who wish to critically engage with issues such as educational philosophy, history, social justice, and cultural context in education. Through rigorous coursework and reflective inquiry, students develop the skills to analyze and address complex educational challenges, contribute to policy discussions, and enhance their practice as thoughtful and informed educators capable of leading meaningful change in diverse educational settings.
